Comptroller Releases Biennial Revenue Estimate [Official]

On Jan. 12, 2015 Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced the 2016-2017 Biennial Revenue Estimate, a formal estimate of the funds available from taxes and other revenue sources over the next two years. At the beginning of each regular session of the Texas Legislature, the Texas Constitution requires the Comptroller's office to submit the report of the state's financial condition. The BRE forms the basis of each successive state budget. Legislators must ensure that total appropriations do not exceed the amount predicted to be available in the BRE.
