Purdue team smashes Rube Goldberg world record
The Purdue Society of Professional Engineers team smashed its own Guinness world record for largest Rube Goldberg machine with a 300-step behemoth that flawlessly accomplished the simple task of blowing up and popping a balloon. Guinness crowns Purdue Rube Goldberg machine 'World's Largest'
The Guinness World Records designated a 300-step Rube Goldberg machine built by Purdue University students as the largest in the world. Purdue professor wins Nobel Prize in chemistry
A Purdue University chemist on Oct. 6 was awarded the Nobel Prize in chemistry for creating a method to build complex organic molecules necessary for numerous purposes, from pharmaceutical manufacturing to electronics. Ei-ichi Negishi, the Herbert C. Brown Distinguished Professor of Chemistry, was a co-recipient of the prize with scientists Richard Heck of the University of Delaware in Newark and Akira Suzuki of Hokkaido University in Sapporo, Japan.
